Last Wednesday (July 29), Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O had a 14-year-old girl hooked to a polygraph test or lie detector, at the request of the girl’s mother, so she (the mum) could question the girl about her drug, sex and school habits.

Before the test the girl admitted, ‘I’m scared. It’s not fair.’

Regardless, the mum’s desire to know about her daughter’s life was much more important than her feelings – and hey, if she could do it as entertainment for thousands at the same time, why not?

The mum admitted, previous to the questioning, to knowing her daughter had smoked marijuana before. She said she wanted to know what other drugs she had done, if any, and also, what her sexual experiences were.

It was this desire to know that prompted the mother to ask her daughter, on live radio, if she had ever had sex.

The poor, poor girl. Humiliated no doubt, she had no choice but to say, you already know this, you know I was raped when I was 12.

Kyle then apparently tried to indicate to his radio people to cut the air-time as he continued his list of questions – asking, inappropriately, ‘Is that your only experience?’

He then offered the girl and her mother counselling, while Jackie O ended the on-air segment and tried to comfort the girl.

The mother, meanwhile, sits back and says, oh yeah, you were raped, but I wanted to know APART from that.

What. A. Bitch.

The girl had told her mother months ago about the rape, but it was only when Kyle prompted the idea of counselling or – you know – reporting it to the police that mummy dearest even considered trying to HELP her daughter.

To be fair, we don’t know what had happened in the months of her daughter telling her, and the live radio show, but regardless, it should not have become an on-air topic.

A mum’s desperate need to invade her daughter’s life has ended horribly for one girl, who now has to re-confront her memories of being raped.

For radio stars Kyle and Jackie O, their part in helping to question a 14-year-old girl about her sex life is at best inappropriate, if not morally wrong.

Then there is the fact that if the girl HAD admitted to sex with an older man (as her mother had feared), it would have been constitutional rape anyway.

The career of Kyle Sandilands is all but ruined. He has lost his role as judge on successful channel 10 show Australian Idol. The joint radio show is ‘in recess’, and will not be aired again for an indefinite amount of time, if ever (a review started the day of the scandalous interview).

Jackie O has not escaped the wrath of the public either, being criticised as Sandilands’ ‘witless sidekick.’

The two together have been crucified for exploiting a poor 14-year-old girl on their live radio show, and as adults they should have known better.

But one other adult should have known better than them, and that is the girl’s horrific mother.

What kind of a loving mum allows her daughter to be strapped to a polygraph test and possibly humiliated on-air?

“I’m scared,” the girl said.

What kind of a decent human questions her daughter’s sex life, knowing full-well she was raped?

“It’s not fair,” said the girl.

What kind of vile, sick, twisted, pathetic woman would, instead of asking her daughter herself, instead subject her to a live lie detector test during which the girl had little say at all? What sort of a person would quickly accept counselling as though she had thought it perfect all along; and yet never suggest it originally for her daughter? (Counselling which, judging by the show, could be stretched to family counselling as well – this mother-daughter duo obviously cannot communicate well to each other).

Kylie Sandilands and Jackie O are paying a horrible price for a so-called mother’s pathetic desire to expose her daughter’s secrets. Even worse, that poor little girl now has to deal with something she has obviously struggled with for two years.

Imagine the poor girl, finding the strength to tell her mum she was raped; only to have mummy dearest treat it so casually on a live radio show.

It is horrific.

The Vile and Tacky O Show? Not at all. The most vile, tacky thing about the whole show was a mother’s complete disregard for her 14-year-old daughter.

“It’s not fair.”
